Golfers use various training aids to improve their golf swing. Most of these can be purchased from the sporting good store but did you know that there is something you can use at home? Yes there is and this is the cardboard box where your golf clubs came in.

But before you learn how to use that in a driving range, don’t forget to stretch and warm up by hitting 15 balls with your 5 or 7 iron or wood.

Once your body is warmed up, set it up. To do that, put the cardboard box lengthwise towards the target because the objective of this aid is to let you hit the ball without hitting the box. This should be 5 to 6 inches away from the ball. If you don’t know how to do it, ask someone from the range to help.

To start, make a few practice swings and let the club brush softly against the ground without hitting the box. When you are ready put a ball and then fire away. Every time you attempt to hit the golf ball, attempt not to hit the box. In case you do so, just reset the box to it’s initial position and refrain from hitting it again.

If you are able to hit a few balls without hitting the box consecutively, move the ball at least half an inch closer to the box. Once the distance between the club and box is about 1 to 2 inches, increase your swing speed to what you do usually.

For those who are able to do it, this means that your swing is within the zone. If not, this means that your swing is on the outside and this could have happened before or after impact. This can happen because you are not holding the club properly or your clubface is not aimed properly. Whichever the case, it is best to consult a professional who can analyze the situation and tell you the best course of action.

Should you be able to hit the ball without coming into contact with the box then it is time to remove it and then practice swinging without the aid. If your shots are going outside again, put it back so you can recall how this is done.

There are other golf swings aids aside from the box to help you improve your golf swing and you will have to shell out more than $10 just to use it.

The nice thing about the box is that it won’t hurt your pocket because should this be damaged and have a lot of holes. You can throw it away and then find a box with similar specifications so you can continue practicing your golf swings. A soft, long and circular foam that is used as a pool toy is a viable alternative.

Speed and hand positioning are are the two most prominent factors regulating your golf swing. Keep in mind that a biomechanically correct golf swing path is not inside out or the opposite. It is also not going down a straight path. It is a movement from inside to inside and once you get it, you will be able to have the correct technique to make this ball fly into the air and land near the hole.

You can find golf swing tips online or you can buy one of the many golf swing lessons e-books. Most of the tips on golf swing techniques in these guides have lots of details – more often than not – too much detail. If you have a swing fault, what you need are a few basic golf swing tips – whether it is to learn more about the short game in golf or to fix a slice.

5 Tips on How to Drive Long

To be able to shoot lower scores, one of the best ways is to gain more golf distance off the tee. With a shorter distance to the green you will have more chance to score par or better. Of course, you need accuracy as well as distance; otherwise you will be in a worse situation. The following 5 quick and easy tips will help you drive long off the tee:

(1) Position the ball off your leading foot’s instep and tee the ball up higher so that you hit the ball on the up-swing; (2) Resist trying to hit the ball with all your might – instead, use a steady rhythm and work on increasing your swing speed gradually; (3) Use the correct shaft flex for your swing speed – use a flexible shaft if you have a lower swing speed (stiffer for faster swing speed); (4) Cock your wrists early on the back-swing and release them just before impacting the ball; (5) On the backswing, turn your shoulders a full 90 degrees for maximum distance off the tee.

5 Tips on How to Master The Golf Irons

How to master golf irons is a subject that is often ignored. You will find many resources available to help you improve your driving or putting but not much importance is placed on golf iron play. Learning to dominate your golf irons is easy with these 5 tips:

(1) Practice on the driving range to know your average distance with each golf iron in your bag; (2) Use the right iron for the distance you want to hit it and use a full swing; (3) Take into account the wind strength and distance as well as other factors like height and slopes; (4) Playing from the rough is different from playing from the fairway – you will need to adjust the ball position, stance, iron loft, and attack angle; (5) Learn proper course management – going for the pin is sometimes not the best option.

5 Tips on How to Improve Your Golf Short Game

One of the most important areas of the golf game is the golf short game. If you are able to hit long and accurate drives, that is great, but if you can’t chip or pitch the ball on the green, all that effort will be wasted. The short game of golf is where you really need to practice, so check out the following 5 tips:

(1) Use a slightly open stance and place your feet closer together; (2) Choose one club (7, 8, or 9 iron) and practice your chipping from different distances with it; (3) From under 50 yards, use a bump and run and get the ball rolling as soon as possible; (4) When playing over a hazard, use a more lofted club with a pitching swing; (5) The length of your backswing will determine the distance the ball will travel.

The above 15 tips on golf swing techniques cover 3 areas of the game that are important but there are other areas that you have to master. They are learning how to cure a slice or hook (if you have these swing faults,) bunker or sand trap play, putting, and pitching. As golf is an all round game, you have to be proficient in every aspect of the game to succeed. Don’t just concentrate on how to be a long driver; instead practice with every club in your golf bag.

Golf is a sport that is originally thought to have originated in Bruntsfield Links, in Edinburgh, Scotland. In this game, a player hits the ball into each hole using many different types of clubs by using a minimum number of strokes. It is a game that is not played on a standardized area, but instead it is played on golf courses, and each golf course may be different and unique from other golf courses.

A golf course will contain a chain of holes that are scattered around the ground. The course also consists of a fairway, teeing ground, rough, and other hazards that will act as obstacles, which the player has to overcome. Usually a basic round of golf will consist of 18 holes. But some golf courses also have nine holes, and the game is played in two rounds, or in some other courses there may be 27 or 36 holes and the player can choose two different sets of nine holes each and the game may be played.

The first section of every hole will consist of a small area known as the teeing box or the teeing ground. While some teeing areas are mostly as level as possible, others are raised slightly above the surrounding fairway. After the initial teeing, the player then again hits the ball from the place where it came to rest. The area that is in between the teeing ground and the putting green is known as the fairway. The putting green is the ground on which the player will putt, or play by hitting the ball with a putter. The grass in the putting green is cut very short. This is done to allow the ball to roll for a longer distance.

Also included on the golf courses are various hazards, which can be mainly of three types, water hazards like lakes or rivers, man-made hazards like bunkers or sand traps, and natural hazards that can be the dense vegetation on the golf course.

Golf Equipment

Golf equipment includes the various items that are used by the sportsmen who play the sport golf. The types of golf equipment include the golf ball itself, and other implements that are designed for striking the golf ball, such as the golf clubs, and also the other instruments that are used to help in the process of playing a particular stroke. Certain items that enrich the players experience while playing golf can also be included as golf equipments.

The golf balls are one of the most important among the golf equipments. They are made up of special materials, which are used in order to help the ball’s playing characteristics. The ball usually has a diameter of 42.67 mm and is covered by around 300 to 450 dimples. This is to help in the aerodynamics of the ball. The golf balls are divided on the basis of their construction, into three types, namely two-, three-, or the four- piece covers. The four- piece cover golf balls are the most expensive.

Among other golf equipments a player also carries several different types of clubs, which help him to play the game better. There are basically three major types of golf clubs, known as the woods, irons and the putters. The club wood is used to play long shots, either from the tee or the fairway; irons are used for precision shots either from the fairway or from the rough; putters are mostly used when playing on the greens, but can also be used when playing from the bunkers or also for some approach shots.

Other golf equipments can be the golf bags, which can be nylon or leather and are cylindrically constructed; ball markers, which help in marking the place of a ball; and also the golf carts, which help in the transport of the other golf equipments like the clubs and also the players across the greens. Also the golfers use gloves, towels, shoes, and clothes which keep the player comfortable while playing the sport, which can also be included as golf equipments.

Golf is a wonderful game, played by many throughout the world I think the attraction of the game for me is that you can build the best golf swing ever, but you can never beat the game.

You will have your good days and certainly you will have your bad days but it is the constant challenge that golf puts up to me that keeps me coming back. Time and time again friends have thrown their clubs in the back of the car vowing never to return until they sort their golf swing out.

But they are usually the first ones on the tee next week, golf provides a constant challenge of weather, course conditions and nerve that keeps enthusiasts like me coming back for more.

How To Develop A Sound Golf Swing

The problem with starting out golf is that there is so much to think of and to buy. First there are the clubs themselves, then a bag to carry them around in. You then need something to hit and quite often lose, the golf balls, then of course you need to be prepared for the weather so you need shirts, jumpers and of course a wet suit just in case it rains.

Once you have all that then you may start to think about having some golfing lessons to learn about the golf swing itself.

A good idea to start out with is a course of lessons with the club pro. This will give you a sound grasp of the fundamentals but only of you practice to work into your game the methods and tricks your pro is teaching you. By the way try to book a course of lessons that includes the pro taking you out on the course, at least once and buy some golf swing videos to help back up your learning.

Driving ranges and practice areas are essential parts of any golf club but there is never any substitute for experience on the course. Sharpening up your golf can be achieved in leaps and bounds by studying a bit of course management. Your pro will probably get you to play shots from various parts of the course and explain the pros and cons of what club and type of shot to play, very valuable information.

Keeping up your learning when your lessons are over is important to make sure you develop your game.

Most people do not want to keep affording golf lessons but fortunately there are cheaper alternatives to use in the form of books and videos and the odd golf swing tip. You can always go back to the pro at a later date to iron out specific problems under an experienced eye.

A golf swing book is great because being lightweight you can take it to the driving range and practice that particular swing point the author is explaining to you first hand. The use of videos is growing ever more popular amongst golfers both pre-recorded versions to watch and the camera that records your own swing as part of a coaching session.

Hopefully this article has given you an idea of how to move your game on and make your introduction to golf a less frustrating and more enthralling experience.
