The saxophone is an enchanting musical instrument and many people who first hear it’s enchanting tones are captivated by the notes of a well played saxophone and straight away desire to learn to play it. But the saxophone is not a simple instrument to play. So much so it is 1 of the most difficult instruments to master and especially for the young, often a lot of commitment is required to conquer this, the Master of Instruments.

Often kids will first hear the saxophone on the Simpsons when Lisa tries to play this elusive of instruments. And a large number children start wanting to practice only from seeing the Simpsons. And so begins the venture – what to purchase one how much will it cost? This article discusses these issues and will give answers to both.

However, as most Moms and Dads realize, a child attention can stray so quickly, and this week’s passion could be replaced in a heartbeat, so why go spending several hundred dollars on a saxophone if it is going to spend a huge amount of time neglected in some closet? Therefore the answer may be found in getting a used one to use until the initial thrill has turned into a serious habit. Then after  a few lessons you can decide the next step.

As far as finding a used or discount saxophone, the choices are plentiful. Of course you can always check out a local pawn shop where you will be able to see and play the instrument. To find the biggest selections, you can do a search either on Google or eBay (which is, after all,  the world’s global pawn shop) but then you are doing things remotely and have to have a little more faith in what you are buying.

However, with both of these ways, you will not have to fork out on a large amount of money of something that could turn out to be a short lived fling. After which you can decide if you want to up the ante and get something that will warrant some serious playing.
