Anyone can learn the skills required to be an outstanding bowler. You can improve your score by using a number of different tips and methods that are available. Bowling is something that is fun for people of all ages, which is why it is a fun family activity. While it is important to remember that having fun is the ultimate goal, putting some techniques to use will help you improve your score. Improving your score will only mean that you will have even more fun when you go out bowling again! There is little that is quite as satisfying as having a high score at the close of the game. By the way, I’ve been able to greatly improve my bowling game using the AthLEAN X program. Be sure to check out, highly recommended.

Getting your ball to go straight down the lane to the pins is one of the first things you should focus on learning. By accidentally putting a slight spin on the ball when they send it down the lane, many people cause it to curve toward the gutter instead of into the pins. Your goal should be to learn how to take any twist out of releasing the ball so it will travel in a straight line. To do that, always make sure your left foot is in the middle of the lane when you throw the ball. If you bowl left handed, then reverse this and have your right foot in the middle of the lane. Aim to get your ball over the third arrow. You will find the third arrow on the board that is fifteenth from the right. You should have your shoulder lined up with the fifteenth board when you let go of the ball. Make sure your throwing arm isn’t sending the ball to the right or left. How well your stance is executed will determine the success of your bowling efforts. Your bowling stance is when you pause and look down the lane – just before you begin your walking approach. A correct stance is natural and relaxed. Just relax with your feet approximately the width of your shoulders. Then just let your knees bend a little – not too much or too little. You’ll want to bring the ball up toward your face but it should not be brought so high that you cannot see the lane. When you’re ready to make your approach, smoothly move the ball to about the same height as your waist.

You can avoid the dreaded ‘gutter balls’ by very gently putting a slight twist on your fingers when you release. This will allow the ball to slightly curve ‘away’ from the gutter. When you do this you’re putting a ‘hook’ on your ball. The effect is to make the ball curve more toward the center of the pins. However, overly hooking the ball will cause a gutter ball on the opposite side! These are just a few techniques and there are others. But practicing what you’ve learned will put you on your way. One key is to never give up. If you’re ever feeling frustrated, just relax and don’t allow it to take over, or it will have an impact on your scores. Mental attitude is important. Try to keep a positive mental outlook on it. Remember to just keep having fun – practice, and you never know when you may bowl a perfect score.
