The proud wearers of the Miami Dolphins jackets like any other football teams have a mascot of their own to inspire its players and add enthusiasm and energy while they are on the field.It will also help them promote their team, adding more supporters and sponsors.

Before a an official mascot in their very own sports jackets was finally introduced, Miami Dolphins had a series of revision.

It was on April 18, 1997 when the first official mascot of the Miami Dolphins was introduced, known as “TD”.He is a seven-foot mascot and made his public debut on April 19 at Pro Player Stadium during the team’s draft day party.

13,000 entries covering all 50 states and 22 countries participated in the Name the Mascot contest where TD’s name was derived.Different participants thereafter, suggested 529 names . On June 4, 1997, the winning entry was announced at the annual Dolphins Awards Banquet.

Dolfan Denny for thirty-three years cheered on the team as a one-man sideline show, leading Miami Dolphin crowds in cheers and chants in his aqua hat and glittering coral (orange) from the Dolphins’ first game in 1966 until 2000, long before TD was discovered and represented the Miami Dolphins. Sym died on March 18, 2007.When he died he was aged 72.

From 1966 to 1968 the Miami Dolphins had a live dolphin Flipper who use to be in a fish tank on the east end of the Orange Bowl Stadium.Every touchdowns and field goals, while inside the tank, Flipper would jump.

A cute and bubbly one named Flipper is now the officialmascot of the Miami Dolphins.Known to be smart and friendly animals are the dolphins.Dolphin’s characteristics totally reflects the Miami Dolphin’s behavior and personality in their NFL jackets.It’s no wonder, Miami Dolphins are popular and loved by their supporters.

TD, though a mascot is also loved not by Miami Dolphin’s supporters only, but also by the team as well.TD will serve as an inspiration and motivation to keep the team from going.TD is a symbol of Miami Dolphin’s success and defeat.
