RC cars are nowadays very popular hobby amongs many people. I have started my RC cars experience in early 2001. Today I own collection of customized RC cars and have a lot of fun with my friends.

Whether you are an adult who is interested in getting started with a hobby on your own or you are interested in getting your child or grandchild interested in the hobby, RC cars have been fun for many generations.

The first RC cars were actually introduced in the 1960s. Cars that were sold in stores during that time were indeed very different that those you know today, but at their times they get as much attention as new RC car model from today.

The 70's were a beginnings of big change for RC Cars industry. British company Mardave was one of the first RC cars makers during the early stages of the decade. It did not take long for multiple companies in the United States to begin producing RC cars as well. It was at this time that the first 1/8 nitro powered RC car kits were produced. The most popular of all of these RC cars was the K&B Veco McCoy. As time went on, manufacturers experimented with a variety of different types of RC cars as well as suspension systems, engines and fuel tanks.

1976 is considered to be the golden year for RC cars. It was at this time that a Japanese company called Tamiya began to produce RC cars. Prior to that time Tamiya had produced highly detailed mini car models. The earlier RC Cars made by Tamiya were very expensive, yet wildly popular.

The early Tamiya models have since gone on to become collector’s items. Some of these models are capable of fetching prices of $3,000 and even beyond. Tamiya has since released some of the earliest and most popular of their models. Those models sold out just as quickly as the original models.
